About the Deuter Guide 28 SL
Simple and streamlined with functionality to boot, the women’s Guide Lite 28 SL rucksack from Deuter has all the necessary components for ultimate alpine climbing and ski touring.
As a true alpinist pack, the Guide Lite 28 SL features the Lite back system, and the Delrin U-frame provides both stability and flex for the approach to the serac. For climbers, it’s vital for packs to fit close to the body for stability, the Guide contours to your spine whilst still providing breathability.
Deuter’s Slim line or Short Length packs are designed in collaboration with the female ambassadors to offer an improved tailored fit for the athletic female figure. The SL range also suits slender men and youth who have shorter torsos and slender frames.
The SL line straps provide enhanced fitting around the upper body, where shorter and narrower shoulder straps accommodate the shorter physique. Moreover, the SL line straps feature tapered ends combined with smaller buckles that reduce pressure points that lead to chafing. Straps also have a contoured “S” shape; a rounded construction that conforms around sensitive areas and hand hugs the pack to the user. The hip belt can easily be detached and have extra pockets, loops, and an ice-clipper slot for extra functionality.
The load adjustment shoulder straps allow the user to cinch the load forward for weight to be distributed parallel to the spinal cord for vertical load-bearing comfort, allowing for easy weight transfer on approaches with medium loads.
As a true mountaineering pack, the Guide Lite has a range of climbing-specific features, ice axes, and ski/hiking poles that can be attached to the backpack whilst fixing loops provide a place to attach extra climbing gear. There are also straps to hold ropes and a stowable cover can be used as a rain cover or to hold your helmet.
Handy side compression straps keep your gear secure when traversing but can also be used to hold your skis or other gear. A stretch inner wet storage compartment is ideal for storing damp clothing and the pack is compatible with hydration systems up to 3 liters so you can keep yourself hydrated during your expeditions, climbs, etc.
The Guide range from Deuter is specifically designed for mountaineering, consequently, they have a streamlined, funnel design with flattened straps to minimize snagging whilst on a rock face. Constructed entirely from tightly woven material for high abrasion/water resistance, the pack can stand up to the worst of mountain environments.
